EARLY SETTLERS OF SANGAMON COUNTY - 1876

These biographies were submitted by a researcher and evidently abstracted from the 1876 History of Sangamon County, IL. Errors could occur, so one should always verify the correctness by obtaining copies of vitals and performing all necessary research to document what is contained herein.




NEAL, NATHANIEL B., was born in Bourbon county, Ky., and came to Sangamon county in 1835 or '6. He was married in 1839 to Sarah A. King. They had one child--

HENRY H., born Sept. 25, 1840, five miles northeast of Springfield. He enlisted April 16, 1861, on the first call for 75,000 men, for three months, in Co. F, 9th Ill. Inf.; re-enlisted July 28, 1861, same company and regiment, for three years; served full term, and was honorably discharged, Aug. 25, 1864, at Camp Butler. He was married Oct. 4, 1864, in Springfield, to Lorena Hill, a grand-daughter of Philip Smith. They have four children, IDA B., ALVA, EVA, and a boy babe, and live four miles northwest of Chatham, on the old Starr farm.--1874.

Nathaniel B. Neal died, and his widow married Hudson Lanham. See King family name.
