EARLY SETTLERS OF SANGAMON COUNTY - 1876

These biographies were submitted by a researcher and evidently abstracted from the 1876 History of Sangamon County, IL. Errors could occur, so one should always verify the correctness by obtaining copies of vitals and performing all necessary research to document what is contained herein.




WALKER, DANIEL, was born about 1781, in Fauquer county, Virgiana, and was married about 1809, in Loudon county, in the same state, to Sarah Bail, a native of Chester county, Pennsylvania, and of a Quaker family. They had four children in Virginia, and moved to Ohio, where four children were born, and moved to Sangamon county, Illinois, arriving in the spring of 1835, and settled on Horse creek, in what is now Pawnee township. Daniel Walker returned to Ohio on business and died there in the fall of 1835. Of their children, the eldest son--

HAMPTON married in Ohio and moved to Kentucky.

HIRAM, born April 10, 1811, in Loudon county, Virginia, came with the family to Sangamon county in 1835, and on the death of his father he assumed the care of the family and prosecuted the business of farming, part of the time in Christian county. He continued in that business until December, 1845, when he moved to Springfield, Illinois. He has for several years been engaged in the business of dealing in real estate.
