RICHMOND WOLCOTT is a native of Illinois, and was born in Morgan county, January 10, 1840. He was educated at Jacksonville, where his parents moved at an early day, and graduated from Illinois College in the Class of 1859. In 1861, he enlisted as a private in the Tenth Illinois Infantry; was promoted to First Lieutenant, and then Captain. He served until September, 1864, when he resigned and returned to Jacksonville, and resumed the study of law, which he commenced before he entered the army. In June, 1865, he was admitted to practice, and at once located in Springfield, since which time he as actively engaged in the practice of his profession. He married Jennie Salter, July 11, 1865, y whom he has had two daughters. In politics, Mr. Wolcott is a Republican.
