These biographies were submitted by a researcher and evidently abstracted from the 1876 History of Sangamon County, IL. Errors could occur, so one should always verify the correctness by obtaining copies of vitals and performing all necessary research to document what is contained herein.




CAPPS, BENJAMIN, was born June 24, 1820, in London, England. Came to Springfield in 1830, and to Vandalia in 1831. He returned to England in 1844, and remained there until 1852, when he went to Australia, and returned to Vandalia in 1856. He was married in Mt. Pulaski in May, 1862, to Lucy McGraw. They have four living children--

IDA, JENNIE, BENJAMIN and HANNAH N.

Benjamin Capps has always faithfully served his adopted country, and votes the straight Republican ticket. He, with his family, reside in Vandalia, Ill.
