These biographies were submitted by a researcher and evidently abstracted from the 1876 History of Sangamon County, IL. Errors could occur, so one should always verify the correctness by obtaining copies of vitals and performing all necessary research to document what is contained herein.




HENKLE, JASON C., was born Oct. 10, 1820, in Pendleton county, Va., and came to Springfield July 8, 1838. He was married April 16, 1849, in Clarksville, Mo., to Kate Travis, who was born Nov. 25, 1825, in Calhoun county, Ill. They had nine living children in Springfield--

ANNA T., born March 20, 1850, died Jan. 1, 1873.

ELLA died in her twelfth year.

CLINTON M. died in his fourth year.

VIRGINIA died in her twenty-second year.

GEORGE E., CHARLES C., EMMA, IRVING and JESSE C., live with their father.

Mrs. Kate Henkle died Jan. 26, 1871, and Jason C. Henkle resides in Springfield. He has been for many years in the mercantile business, and is now a member of the firm of Woods & Henkle. For ten years he has been a director of the First National Bank of Springfield.
