EARLY SETTLERS OF SANGAMON COUNTY - 1876

These biographies were submitted by a researcher and evidently abstracted from the 1876 History of Sangamon
County, IL. Errors could occur, so one should always verify the correctness by obtaining copies of vitals and performing all
necessary research to document what is contained herein.
HUSTON, MARTHA
, was born May 4, 1819, in Cumberland county, Penn. She came to Chatham, May 14, 1839, on a visit to her sister, Mrs. Wm. P. Thayer, and was married in Chatham, Sept. 28, 1843, to Henry Thayer, who was born July 1, 1812, in Boston, Mass., and came to Sangamon county, in April, 1841. They had eight children -
Joseph L., died at two years of age.
Henry, died in his thirteenth year. Of the other six Thayer children -
Ellen M., born June 29, 1844, married Aug. 25, 1864, to Thomas McElwain. They have one living child, Anna Rosa, and live in Chatham.
Olive F. E. Ruggles, Charles M., Anna C. and Emma A., reside with their parents in Chatham - 1874.
