These biographies were submitted by a researcher and evidently abstracted from the 1876 History of Sangamon County, IL. Errors could occur, so one should always verify the correctness by obtaining copies of vitals and performing all necessary research to document what is contained herein.




KENT, JESSE H. , born in 1809, near Bainbridge, Ross county, Ohio. He was married in 1838, in Christian county, to Lydia A. Walker, but soon after made their home in the eastern part of Sangamon county, Ill., where one child was born, and they moved to Springfield, where they had four children. William and John T. died young. Of the other three children--

SARAH E., born June 25, 1840, near Mechanicsburg, married George W. Constant. See his name.

JAMES H., born in Springfield, enlisted in 1861, in Company 1, 7th Ill. Inf, for three years, was wounded in 1864, and discharged on account of physical disability, married Jane Howard, and she died.

JOSIAH P., born in Springfield, married Lou Rogers, and lives with his father, near Savannah, Mo.

Jesse H. Kent lived in Springfield until 1874, when he moved to the vicinity of Savannah, Mo., where he now resides.
