These biographies were submitted by a researcher and evidently abstracted from the 1876 History of Sangamon County, IL. Errors could occur, so one should always verify the correctness by obtaining copies of vitals and performing all necessary research to document what is contained herein.




MORRIS, JOHN, was born and married in Cabell county, West Va., and moved, in company with his brother, William D., to Sangamon county in the fall of 1825, settled on Lick creek, and raised a family there. He was a preacher in the anti-mission or predestinarian Baptist church. His brother, Wm. D., was a member of the same church. They were brothers to Bishop Morris, of the M. E. church. John Morris is dead, and has no representative in the county.
