Washington Aldrich, born 16 Jun 1843 in Rochester, NY and his sister
Mary Elizabeth Aldrich. Their parents brought them to Sangamon County Illinois in 1853 and after
their mother was widowed during the Civil War they lived in the house behind them. They never
married and lived together, first with their widowed mother and various nieces and nephews and
latter with other family members. Washington (Wash) died in August of 1914 and Mary died 8 Feb 1930.
This is my grandmother's aunt, Fanny May Pilcher born 16 Jan 1887.
The other identified young man is Charles Nelson Pilcher who was born 6 Nov 1877. I have narrowed
the years, assuming Fanny is 8-12 years old, that the picture was taken between 1895-1899. The
original is a photo postcard. Both Fanny and Charlie were born in Chatham.
