TOWNS, PLACES, CREEKS OF SANGAMON COUNTY in 1837
Abstracted from a gazeteer of Illinois, 1837. Keep in mind that Sangamon County incorporated a much bigger area in 1837 and some of the towns or places are located in another county today. So if your ancestor, for example, resided in Mt. Pulaski, that would be located in Logan County today. Edinburg is located in Christian County today, Petersburg in Menard County, etc.. So the 1830 Sangamon County census comprises several present day counties. See Sangamon County Timeline and Illinois County Formation Maps & Information.
